Located in Maida Vale’s Little Venice, Raoul’s flag ship restaurant first opened its doors to the locals in December 1985 setting an unprecedented standard of high quality food and service that made it almost an overnight success with an overwhelming response echoing to the far reaches of Central London.
Owner and founder Geraldine Leventis, whom previously to Raoul’s was a self-proclaimed “bored housewife” began her trade in entertainment, providing parties and gatherings for guests over many years, one of whom being Francis Bacon – critically acclaimed painter known well for one of his famous pieces ‘Portrait of Pope Innocent X, 1953′. Having this experience and a natural flair for business Geraldine soon saw the potential of an already existing Raoul’s in the form of a coffee shop which she envisioned to be as the Raoul’s we see today.
