Char grilled Talagani cheese (Greek cheese)

This traditional Greek cheese has the same texture like the familiar halloumi cheese found in all major supermarkets. The difference between Talagani and halloumi, is the saltiness of the cheese. Talagani is a firm cheese in texture and the taste is quite good when either Chargrilled or deep fried. This recipe is quite easy in preparing and cooking, but the result is you will enjoy it to the last bite and most probably ask for second helping.

Ingredients:
I packet of Talagani cheese (contains 2 pieces)
A handful of halved cherry tomatoes
Few leaves of mint
Salt and black pepper
Extra virgin olive oil

How to prepare:
Preheat a griddled pan, and when it’s hot, brush the Talagani with some oil and lay it on the griddled pan.. Cook for 2 minutes on each side. Remove from the pan and set aside. In a bowl, put the halved cherry tomatoes, mint leaves, and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, salt and black pepper to taste, a squeeze of lemon is optional but it will give nice taste to the salad.. Put the Talagani on the plate, and either top the salad on the cheese or just slightly over lapping. And enjoy with your favourite glass of white wine. If you want to go for the deep fried version. Dust the Talagani with seasoned flour and either deep fry it, or shallow fry it, but shallow frying it requires you to turn it over so it gets nice and brown on all sides. Please note Talagani cheese is not found in all major supermarkets, but it is available at our delis.
